Proud to be an American...

In fitting tribute to Independence Day, those sisters are up to it again. (Bless their sweet, little patriotic hearts.) Kari and Kijsa are hosting a "FLAG DAY"...head over to their blog for a list of all those flying their red, white and blue in honor of this holiday.

I need to confess, I have lost count of how many times I have teared up, or cried {softly of course} through the National Anthem. And I sobbed {yes, sobbed} the first time, and many times thereafter whenever I hear Lee Greenwood's PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN sung. Patriotism runs deep in my heart.

My contribution to this celebration will be some vintage, patriotic postcards. I have a little stack of these that I've collected through the years. I can't find a date on these as they were postally unused. They do appear to be from the early 1900's, and thus would be considered to be in the public domain. Therefore, feel free to use them for your own personal use.

Title: Proud To Be An American
*
If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I'd worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.
*
I'd thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can't take that away.
*
And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
*
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God Bless the USA.
*
From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.
*
From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.
*
That I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
*
And I'll gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God Bless the USA.
*
And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
*
And I'll gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
GOD BLESS THE USA.
