Oh my! Girls, I couldn't believe my eyes. But before I go there, I'll back up and throw out some disclaimers. I know there are several camps of thought when it comes to Ebay and two of those camps have nothing in common. Opposite ends of the spectrum in fact. As I catch snippets of opposing points of view, as a casual observer, I feel that each camp has legitimate points. How's that for diplomacy?!Anyhew...getting back to the main point, my eyes about fell out of my head when I went to check on the final outcome of a particular auction. Like many of you, I adore vintage millinery. I was watching an auction for a gorgeous vintage hat covered with lucious pink roses. I happened upon it when the price was at $12.99. The next time I peeked it was in the $50 range. That pretty much settled it for me. I wouldn't be placing a bid on this one. However, being curious to see the final outcome I left it in my watch column. That's when it happened...the part about my eyes bugging out of my head. The hat sold for $676.00!!!!!
For those of you who are in the business of selling vintage items, may I suggest you keep your eyes peeled for hats like this:

AND NOW SWITCHING GEARS...

Sweetheart Margo, at the Dining Room Studio honored me with the Arte y Pico award. To say I was surprised, would be an understatement. But it warmed my heart. Thank you, Margo!
With this award, I am now instructed to pass it along to five other blogs. That's next to impossible as I could easily pass it along to so many more. It seems every time I sneak a little time {okay, sometimes too much time} to surf around blogland, I continually happen upon more and more inspiring blogs. It's like having a never-ending supply of gorgeous magazines to devour. I just love it. And my "unfinished" housework bears testimony to that statement!
However, I'm going to play by the rules and pass this award along to five people as instructed. Since life and personal preferences vary greatly from person to person, if, as one of my chosen recipients you are unable to play along, that's okay! This doesn't come with one of those "terrible things are going to happen to you" if you don't pass this along, threats! What it does come with is an applause and admiration for your blog and the giftedness you share with the rest of us.
So here are my five recipients in alphabetical blog order:
Laurie at Laurie's Charming Designs: Creator of darling little wool birds made into pincushions as well as being a gifted painter.
Becky Novacek at Live and Learn: Wonderfully insightful commentary about life and gorgeous photography.
Suzanne Duda at Pink Roses: A fun gal who shares her passion and creativity in mixed media, decorating, vintage flea market finds and life in general.
Dawn at The Feathered Nest: Sweetheart of a person whose beautiful, vintage-inspired creations ooze with an endearing tenderness/innocence for life.
Here are the rules:
1. You have to pick 5 blogs that you consider deserving of this award for their creativity, design, interesting material and also contribute to the blogging community, no matter what language.
2. Each award has to have the name of the author and a link to his/her blog to be visited by everyone.
3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name of and link to the blog that presented her/him with the award.
4. The award winner and one who has given the prize have to show the link of "Arte y Pico" blog so everyone will know the origin of this award.
Blessings on your day...
xo

Oh my gosh! It is gorgeous, but it would have been beyond my pocketbook. It always amazes me the price some items go for.
Congratulations on your award.
Congrats on the award and I will keep an eye out for one of those hats... Thanks... Susie h~
I saw that hat auction also. What gives? Must have been one heck of a bidding war. That happed to me once when I used to sell on eBay. It was for a poodle tissue box holder. It went for something like $150.00. The girl that won said she had looked for that particular holder for ever and come heck or high water she was going to win it.
